Friday 13th February (Day 1)
When will we learn? We are to going to Fakenham for a 1700 start at Fakenham Academy with the MCC (Anglia) for the Valentines Weekend. So we sat around at home until 1530 as it was just a 90 minute journey. The traffic was then shown as quite bad as it was (a) Friday traffic and (b) raining / wet weather conditions. So the thought was that we should have left earlier as we could have parked up nearby. That said the journey was quite good and by 1715 we were at the school and parked up. After a short time in the motorhome and meal of curry we went to the hall for 1900 and a general chat and catch up with some of the members that we knew. What followed was the usual format, in that it was pay for the meet, buy some raffle tickets and the purchase of bingo tickets. No surprise we did not win the bingo although we were both close. What then followed was a music quiz which was quite tedious as it was so slow and but a good brain challenge. It was well set, just the music quiz comprised of tracks which were a bit too long, and played again for the answers. A good chat followed until around 2300 when we returned to the MH which on going inside was quite cold! So while the MH warmed up a night cap was a much needed diversion.
Saturday 14th February (Day 2)
We woke up to an unusual sight - the sun was shining. So after breakfast we planned to go into Fakenham. First though we tested the new Ryoko dongle to see if it would work, which it did. A gentle stroll into town. A walk around the small shopping area visiting the many charity shops and then a coffee stop with a pork and apple roll. I then planned a different walk back which followed the river for a short distance and along quiet country lanes. We got back around 1315. We sat in the MH and watched Italy play Wales at rugby. Italy should have won, or at least got a draw, but they didn’t. We then walked to the Henry IV pub to watch Scotland .v. England on a big screen and have a meal. Food good but Scotland cheated and beat us winning the Calcutta Cup for the second year! Back to the MH and a quick change for the evening in the school hall. The original singer, Dale Diamond, had fallen off a ladder and broke his shoulder so a couple called ‘Near Miss’ stood in. They started a bit slow with too much chat but just got better as their sets went on. Just before midnight we left after dancing the night away. A nightcap and then bed.
Sunday 15th February (Day 3)
So it rained during the night quite heavy and continued to do so in the morning. After a bacon butty we walked over to the hall for the ‘Chairman’s Waffle’, Bonus Ball and Raffle. As usual it dragged out a bit and, as usual, we won nothing with others winning multiple times. On the way over to the hall it started to snow. The journey home was easy but for most of it the heavy snow reduced visibility. We were home by 1300.
