Friday 5th December (Day 1)
Sherringham High School MCC Christmas Rally today. It doesn’t start until 1700 so no rush to leave. 1500 saw us on a gentle drive to arrive as scheduled. We are not sure why but instead of the A149 coastal route we were taken along the A148. It may well be a traffic issue. We arrived at 1710 and were quickly set up. Having arrived we found that, despite filling up with water on Wednesday, we were virtually empty. As we do not have a dump valve it was a small concern and I spent half an hour refilling, especially as the fresh water tap was quite a walk away. Chris then Googled our motorhome and it states we do have a frost dump valve. We searched high and low and even asked another 640 owner but could not find it. No matter we have now water. 1900 saw us over in the school hall for a ploughman’s meal. A reasonable supper but it was good that we had a more substantial lunch than we would normally have. A good chat followed and a three games of bingo (we nearly won) followed again by a really nice chat. 2300 saw us back in the motorhome. While it was a good start we then saw details of the Van Club Meet in Chester and think that would have been better. Having paid for the MCC weekend we would have still come as we did not know that Chester may be better. We need to make the best of this and it will still be good I am sure.
Saturday 6th December (Day 2)
So a lot of rain overnight and it continued this morning. This meant a much slower start than ‘normal’. A shower at around 0930 only to find the boiler failed to heat the water! A cooked breakfast then followed by a shower afterwards. Around 1100 the rain stopped and the sun shone. So we strolled into town where the station car park had a small market. Then along the main High Street with visits to many shops. Eventually a coffee called us which was very nice. Tesco was next for some much needed items - limes and fizzy water. We next thought that to go back to the school and motorhome was a bit early so we adjourned to The Robin Hood (Timothy Taylor). Here we met a couple of locals and had over two hours of chatting like they were old friends. By just after 1500 we were back at the school for pre-dinner aperitifs. A change into a DJ and posh frock and by 1700 over for bucks fizz before a sit down meal starting at 1730. What followed was a three course meal but with 106 people the service was slow and the food not overly hot, tasty but not as hot as we would have liked. Then it was entertainment time and we had a singer who sang with three short breaks from 1930 to 2330. He was good and much dancing took place. While I admit to being biased Chris in her dress was stunning and if I had a pound for everyone who commented favourably on her dress etc we would have had a good stash. Midnight saw us back for a night cap before bed.
Sunday 7th December (Day 3)
It was the Christmas market in March this morning so we did not go to the raffle and ‘Chairman’s waffle’. By just after 1000 we were off and a good run home meant that by noon we were parked up and emptying the motorhome before going to the market.
