Friday 7th February (Day 1)
Leigh on Sea this weekend. The meet doesn't start until 5.00pm. So to avoid sitting on the A127 in loads of traffic we left home around midday and went to visit Resa and Eric where we had a lovely lunch and catch up.We chatted till around 5.30pm and then said our goodbyes and drove the 1.1 mile to Blenheim School. Next was a curry meal and 7.00pm saw us over at the hall. Here was a pleasant chat for four hours with a couple of games of bingo. Back at the motorhome just after 11.00pm and bed.
Saturday 8th February (Day 2)
Rain during the night but a bright start to the day. After breakfast we sat around and waited as Dave and Gill were on the way to join us. Just after 11.00am they arrived and we then set of for old Leigh Town. A good walk and the old town and walk along the riverside was lovely, with nice old buildings and cockle sheds. We went into 'The Mayflower' pub and had great fish and chips with a pint. Then a slow walk along the High Street and a second stop at a Wetherspoon pub. Then back to the motorhome to watch the Calcutta Cup. Not a great game as the wind and rain caused the ball to go all over the place. Indeed I have never seen so many kicks go straight into touch! at least seven in sucession. Eventually England won 10-3. We had some cheese and biscuits before making our way over to the school hall. Another good chinwag. We also had a knockout game of 'Boules' except with bean bags. I got to the final with the best of three which I just lost. The raffle was next and Bob, the chairman, asked me to pull the first ticket as the runner up in the competition. I drew our ticket out! Happy days a sandwich maker was our prize. Just after 11.00pm we all made our way 'home'. The wind was getting up as Storm Ciara was approaching and, although it should really 'hit' tomorrow, it is clearly approaching now.
Sunday 9th February (Day 3 )
A very windy night with rocking and rolling of the motorhome. This continued when we got up. After breakfast we strolled over for the chairman's talk before leaving for home and, despite the wind, it was an easy drive. Getting back to the motorhome storage was the start of our problems. Firstly, we found the electrics in the motorhome had turned off and wouldn't turn on. Next, the car key had gone astray. So we ended up driving back home to get the duplicate key. So It was not until 2.00pm that's we were finally indoors.
(Update The car key was found the next day while trying to sort the electric issue. It was on the leisure batteries. The electrics we could not resolve..)
